Gregg Albracht

It was in the late 1960's that Gregg Albracht discovered his passion for photography. While working at a dude ranch, he become intrigued with the camera work of a fellow ranch hand. After buying his own camera from the winnings from a rare trip to a race track, he immersed himself in the fine art of photography. He is now known as one of the country's most premiere equine photographers. Mr. Albracht has produced a spiritually inspired body of work. He places himself in the landscape and waits as long as it takes for that special moment to capture. "For me, photography is about discovery, and discovery has to do with having new experiences and revelations...the kind that leave us with a profound sense of wonder." For every hour he's in the field, he spends four hours in the dark room, with the priority on aesthetics, vision and perspective, rather than technical and mechanical trickery. His goal is to achieve the perfect line and the perfect composition. The effect is one of peace and serenity. His work is rooted in one key idea: When you lease expect it, something magical will happen.
