Wendy Higgins has been involved with art from a very early age. From grade school through college her education centered around art, fostered by her father and stepmother who are both painters. She received her Bachelors in Fine Art from Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. with an emphasis on life drawing and art history. Her
first love is the natural world. "Whether I am gardening, hiking or biking,
I am always struck by the play of light and the remarkable boldness and
subtleties of color. It is the love of light and the beauty of nature that
motivates and inspires me to paint." Whether
painting a peach, a pot, or light falling across a linen cloth, she feels she is
connecting with nature, in a sense worshipping the beauty she sees and falling
in love with what she believes is an expression of our source. Since 1997, Higgins has studied representational still life painting with Cary Ennis. She has also attended Plein Air workshops with Don Ward and William Scott Jennings through the Scottsdale Artists' School. "Painting gives me a chance to share what I feel. If I am lucky enough, someone else will see the beauty of the subject and be touched by that same essence. Sharing my love for the natural world is one of my greatest pleasures." | |||||||
